Ten new social housing units in Stafford were officially opened in September by Housing Minister Robert Schwarten and local member Stirling Hinchliffe.

The $2.7 million units are part of a plan to redevelop Department of Housing properties to provide more housing for people in need and make the most of departmental land in prime areas.

The new complex was named Happy Valley Units after Stafford’s original name ‘Happy Valley’. This was the name given to the area by the European settlers in the 1850s.

The residents have reported they are enjoying their new units. “I am so happy to have this place to live in,” said tenant Akwei Shewr.
