Welcome to the twelfth edition of the Community Housing information bulletin for 2009.

Housing Provider Management unit

As a result of machinery-of-government changes, the former Service Delivery unit of the Department of Housing’s Community and Public Housing service area is now the Housing Provider Management unit in the Social Housing Programs branch of the Department of Communities (Housing and Homelessness Services).

The Housing Provider Management unit continues to be the primary point of contact for funded organisations for operational matters relating to compliance with the Housing Act 2003, Housing Regulation 2003 and specific assistance agreements. Local area offices remain the primary point of contact for client applications and referrals and allocations to fill property vacancies.

The unit is keen to improve its processes to ensure timely responses to requests for assistance. The former method of assigning service officers to a specific regional area has been identified as unsustainable because of limits on staff resources and uneven workloads across the regions. As a result, a new workflow management system has been developed to ensure:

In assigning tasks to team members, every effort will be made to provide continuity with the same officer, but this may not always be possible.
