Snapshot of 2008-09

During 2008-09 the department is:
- Continuing to improve the quality and value of its housing by upgrading and renovating properties, achieving a more comfortable lifestyle for tenants and increased pride in the home.
- Investing $30 million to upgrade approximately 500 departmental properties in renewal areas. These upgrades will include improvements to bathrooms, kitchens, outdoor living spaces, fencing and car accommodation.
- Broadening the extent of refurbishment works to multi-unit complexes through modern design and planning reviews to bring them into line with more modern construction. This type of change will see larger sites re-established into smaller, more individual living areas.
- Working to reduce the need for housing maintenance through smarter building products and improved construction practices.
