Penny Gillespie, General Manager Housing Policy and Strategy, considers new opportunities for the department to address housing need under the Housing Act 2003.

Housing Policy and Strategy's goal is to ensure that the Department of Housing's role in the Queensland housing system contributes appropriately to the Queensland Government's priorities and whole-of-Government outcomes, thereby leading to better outcomes for the Queensland community and strengthened Government support for the work of this department.

This role is achieved through the provision of strategic advice - based on informed research, consultation and evaluation - to the Government, the Minister and the Board of Management, on social and economic issues of significance to housing.
